This is by far my favourite shop to go in the north for anything home ware. The attention to detail on the displays and quality of customer service as well as product quality is second to none. Their Christmas shop is one not to be missed as each year they select a theme and have the entire store decorated. Also their cafe has top quality food if you just want a quick coffee and a bun or a full dinner. Well done, please keep it up.

We bought a Parker Knoll suite through Alexanders of Markethill. It cost just under 4000. Within 5 days of using it, I developed chronic neck ache, which has continued from Christmas Day 2017 until now. We chose the model after trying out the shop floor demonstration model and got it made using our chosen fabric. The suite is very well made BUT the headrests on the back cushions were so tightly packed with wadding that they thrust my head forward causing the neck pain to develop. I ended up having to remove the cushions and use the back cushions from my old suite. I contacted David in May, to see if he could do anything to remedy the problem. He contacted Parker Knoll and they said that there was nothing they could do to help, as it was up to the retailer to deal with the customer. He suggested that we pay 60 to have their upholsterer take a look at the suite, which I declined to do. I then contacted Alexanders to point out that according to the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the suite in it's current condition was not fit for purpose. It was then that Mr Trevor Scott, manager took over and wrote the following in an email. 'You have previously been in contact with David but I feel that this saga has gone on for long enough.....You had the opportunity to try out this suite and indeed many more suites in our shop before making your purchase. If you selected something which you now deem to be uncomfortable this is your subjective opinion but not something that we can or can be expected to resolve for you. I am sorry that you are unhappy with your Parker Knoll suite that you purchased from us but unfortunately there is nothing further that we can do for you at this time.On receipt of this correspondence, I contacted an upholsterer with years of experience to get his opinion on the cushions. He said that the reason that they were pushing my head forward was that they were too tightly packed with wadding and were rock hard. So I removed the fillers myself and took out a substantial amount of wadding, sewed them back up and made the headrest softer, no longer pushing my head forward, as it had done. If Alexanders had provided decent customer service, they would have come out and resolved the issue. So my advice to any potential customers out there is, DO NOT ORDER a Parker Knoll suite from them. Their customer service is atrocious.
